As one of the designer to usher the concept of minimalism aesthetic, fashion designer Jil Sander has since took a hiatus after the sale of her label to Prada in 1999. However, the designer announced her return to the industry this Tuesday with the launch of her new fashion consultancy, Jil Sander Co, and its first client, Fast Retailing, the parent company of UNIQLO. During a press briefing with Fast Retailing CEO, Tadashi Yanai, Sander stated her full involvement with UNIQLO product portfolio, both men and women, and the possibility of a stand-alone line within the label in the future. The first of this collaboration will appear as the Fall and Winter 2009 Collection of UNIQLO. In the meantime, the first collections from UNIQLO Designers Invitation Project - Steven Alan and Opening Ceremony, will launch this morning at UNQLO’s SoHo flagship in New York.
