Louis Vuitton Creates Luxe Case for World Cup Trophy

The World Cup trophy just got a major style upgrade - or at least its transportation did.   This week in Paris, Naomi Campbell and executives at Louis Vuitton unveiled a new LV-designed leather-bound trophy case, which comes in Louis Vuitton's signature monogram pattern, has a chic brown lining, and features shiny brass corners and locks.   It seems choosing Louis Vuitton, with its 150-plus-year history of creating luxe hard-cased traveling trunks, was a no-brainer for the powers that be at the FIFA World Cup, which will tip off the 2010 games June 11 in South Africa.

The one-off handmade trophy case was created by a single craftsman at Vuitton's original workshop in Asnières, France.   The World Cup trophy inside, which will be presented to the winning team on July 11 in Johannesburg, is made of solid 18-carat gold with a base crafted from semiprecious malachite stone.   Now let's just hope the loud uniforms of the winning team don't clash with the new sleek and chic accessory.

I'm defo. a Luxury Victim! lol
